This week on Instagram I’m hosting citrus week, which is a week straight of different meal and treat ideas using lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruit, blood oranges and more! This super simple take on baked salmon is definitely one of my favorite recipes from the week — it’s a recipe I recommend keeping in your back pocket for when you need a quick and simple recipe idea!
One of my biggest pet peeves for making salmon at home is when it comes out dry and with very little flavor. The tart citrus juice and fresh flavor of ginger and garlic ensure that this salmon is super flavorful! Plus cooking it in olive oil and butter or ghee makes it extra moist, and flakey when baked.

health benefits of salmon
Known for its omega-3 fatty acids, salmon is a great protein option that helps improve brain health, protects against inflammation, and can decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease. It’s a staple of the Mediterranean diet, which is highly ranked when it comes to diet patterns for longterm health year after year.
Salmon is a also a good source of vitamin D, B vitamins, potassium, and selenium. Canned salmon is also a great option and something I recommend keeping as a pantry staple to help make quick and simple meals that are high in nutrition. My favorite thing to make with canned salmon are these turmeric salmon oat cakes.
I recommend people to aim for seafood at least 2 times a week to reap the benefits. Salmon has lower levels of mercury than other fish like tuna, so you don’t have to be concerned about eating too much unless you’re eating it every day at every meal.
